Formentera

Spain, Balearic Islands, Formentera

Description

Formentera is famous for its nudists beaches. Formentera is the smaller and more southerly island of the Balearic Islands and was formerly reachable only by boat from Ibiza. Nowadays, regular passenger service from the Spanish mainland has increased tourism. Since the 1960s, Formentera has been a popular destination for Hippies and today Formentera is known for the fact that nude sunbathing is allowed on most of its beaches. Although access is easy to all parts of the island and cars are hired in the port, many people choose to rent mopeds or even bicycles because of the flat nature of most of the island and the availability of dedicated cycle tracks in many locations. The coastline could not be more stunning. Frost-white slithers of sand are smoothed by water in uncredible azure, turquoise and lapis lazuli colors.
