Burgazada

Description

Burgazada (Αντιγόνη - Antigoni), is the third largest island in Prince Islands with 2km diameter. General Demetrios` father Antigone had been constructed a castle in the island and name of the island is come from Pyrgos (Burgaz) as ancient Greek. The most reputable patriarch of Orthodox church, Metodios ad been thrown into prison for seven years, where now Ayios Ioannis Church is located. The famous author of Modern Turkish Literature, Sait Fait Abasiyanik spent part of his life in the island and his house turned into a museum after his death. Additionally Burgazada has an advantage in terms of view because it is opposite of greenery Heybeliada and Kasik island. Pine forests, coasts, elegant wooden mansions creates a picturesque atmosphere for the island. Kalpazankaya is located on the eastern part of the island where it is famous by its sunset. Public transportation via ferries is available.
