Description

Cala en Turqueta is situated at 10 kilometres from Ciutadella, located between Punta des Tambors and na Foradada, as well as below the Talaia d`Artrutx. The name is given by the attacks of Turkish pirates. This virgin and isolated beach is the result of a sea inlet which is 400 metres long, which is the origin of this beautiful cove, which is not very big, surrounded by the high cliffs of the adjacent headlands, covered by thick pine woods, which belong to Àrea Natural d`Especial Interès of the southern coast of Ciutadella. This is the typical menorcan landscape of the south coast. This coastal stretch is semicircular. Some rocks in the middle divides the beach with fine-grained white sand into two. This flagstone is at some metres in the sea. Another attraction of this place is the crystal clear water, the gentle slope and the exposition to the winds from the southeast-south-west. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good if the boat is smaller than 12 metres and has a maximum draught of two metres. It is not very deep on a sandy ground and the best anchorage, with buoys, is located in the western area. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left on a free parking area at 850 metres from the beach (about 15 minutes walk) with 120 places. You will have to pay to reach the beach and park in the surroundings. nevertheless the beach is not too crowded by local visitors and tourists. For health and safety reasons, the municipal ordinances ban pets on beaches.
