Nice

France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d`Azur, Alpes-Maritimes, Nice

Description

Nice is the capital of Cote d `Azur. Nice is located in the French Riviera, on the south east coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the Alps. Cannes and Monaco are also near. The Mediterranean climate and its geographical position make Nice a city of particular natural beauty and for this reason, it has the "nickname" "Nice la belle" which means beautiful Nice. Nice is one of the most vibrant cities of the French Riviera. The flea market Cours Saleya, the bustling square Place du Palais with its tiny cafes and the small square Place Rossetti with dyed -in shades of yellow, red and ochras- buildings are the most picturesque images of old Nice. The biggest tourist attraction of modern Nice is the central promenade with palm trees and extensive sandy beach, bearing the name Promenade des Anglais (the Promenade of the English). Nice also has a considerable number of museum institutions and exhibition spaces, with the top «Musee des Beaux Arts» (Fine Arts Museum), the «Musee d`Art Moderne et d`Art Contemporain» (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) and the «Musee d`Art et d `Histoire» (Art and History Museum). If you visit Nice, you should swim in its sea which is warm even in early summer; there is no sand yet its pebbles are not obtrusive. The beach Baie des Anges (Bay of Angels) is free and organized. It has space for games and water sports for those who prefer. It also has bars for water, soft drinks and coffees. There are also more private beaches in Nice, less crowded. You can find all of them in TRIPinVIEW. It should be mentioned that there is no direct flight to Nice. The quickest way to travel is by air, with a stopover in Paris. The airport is very close to the city, only 6 km to the west and the journey to the center is very beautiful because from there starts the famous Promenade des Anglais. By road it would be very nice if someone has the time, money and inclination to reach through Italy, directed south on highway A7 to Genoa, seeing Genoa, also see a part of the Italian Riviera and travel through the Cote d`Azur with final destination Nice.
