Akyarlar

Turkey, Mugla, Bodrum, Akyarlar

Description

Akyarlar is in the often overlooked south-western corner of the Bodrum Peninsula, and is due south of Turgutreis (it’s also part of the Turgutreis Municipality). It’s a little off the beaten track, and if you fancy a day away from the mass of tourists that converge in Bodrum and Turgutreis, head to this corner of the Peninsula to get a slice of Turkish market-town life. Akyarlar has a secluded bay, with a birds eye view of the tip of Kos. The bay has a selection of restaurants and cafes, and there’s a small beach with loungers, as well as a small harbour jetty where you can take a day boats around this part of the coastline. Akyarlar is also a anchor-stop, on day boats from Turgutreis taking the southern tour, and we stopped here for afternoon tea and cake during our trip.
