Description
Motril is the second largest town in the province of Granada, Spain and has 50.000 inhabitants. It is located n a hill, on the slope of Sierra Lújar and is best known for its busy commercial port. There is also a fishing port, a yachting Marina and ferries going to Morocco. Motril is a growing dynamic city, a place of service where visitors feel comfortable, thanks to the great hospitality of its people. The beaches are quiet and small or popular and large . They are highly visited during the summer by people from the surrounding as well as the interior regions, due to the weather being mostly good. Apart from its attractive coastline and tourist centres, Motril has a great artistic heritage. The historic quarter is a classic example of Arab-Spanish urban development and the church of Colegiata de La Encarnación is a Mudejar building from the 16th century. The Baroque architecture of the building that houses the City Hall is admirable and the sanctuary of the Virgin of Cabeza is found on a cliff with stunning views.
